Where does one go to change the default player to RealPlayer from Windows?

I'm not sure once the programs are installed. When initially installing RealPlayer or WMP, there's a screen where the choice can be made.

Maybe if I switched the default player the problem would go away?

When I have trouble, it is with a server that only has WMP capability. So, here, switching the default is not applicable to my particular problem.

Try this...

If you install another media program after installing Real One Player, some of these file types may be associated with the new program. You can re-assign these file type to Real One Player:

1. In Real One Player, click the Tools menu and choose Preferences. The Preferences box opens.
2. Click Media Types from the Preference Category list.
3. In the Media Types dialog box, select the types of files that you want to play in Real One Player.
4. Click OK to close the Media Types dialog box.
5. Restart Real One Player.

FWIW

I am not currently using RealPlayer, but I used to. The last version I ran up until about a month ago had the nasty habit of adding a process to the startup list in Windows 98 every time the program ran. As far as I could tell, the only purpose of this program was to create annoying pop-ups a few times a day. After every time RelPlayer ran I would have to go into MsConfig to disable the startup.
