note that the insurers are not willing to discuss their exposure - which tells me that THEY are the underwriters of the outstanding credit default swaps. so they don't even know yet for sure how large their losses will be.
Parmalat could have more widespread consequences than is now readily apparent. some insurers may be forced to raise liquidity - which means they may be forced to sell stock market investments for instance.
