Israel/Pal and US/Al Quaeda are quite similar in the following respect.
If Tom Ridges fear is borne out, the US will ratchet up its use of force in Afghanistan/Pakistan frontier. Americans will not take another 9/11 without upping the ante. Now before anyone goes nuts over this--I am not proposing this but if we could id the location of bin laden lets say within a five mile area and could destroy that area with small nukes, depending on the type of attack we absorb might we not respond that way.
IF israel was faced with Palesinian human wave terror attacks like we faced with chinese troops in korean war, would not they use what they have.
I hate to talk about this stuff. I am thinking that before my time is up, this world might indeed see the use of nukes for the second time. That is why we must do all in our power to defeat the terrorist because if we do not, they will ultimately provoke the use of wmds against them and i have no idea what the consequences of their use will be. Will we get peace thru victory or will we have a greater mess to deal with? Mike

Finally, there seems to be a truce-fire deal there

Let's hope it holds. Notably, the offer came from Pakistan - the country that had been pinning its identity on the continued squabble. If Pakistan wants to stop shooting, the truce can be arranged.

There's a moral there for all those preaching "even-handedness" in the Middle East. There's no substitute for figuring out which side is really making the fighting continue.
