You're envious and jealous

Please back off, CB. That is over the line.

it's envy and jealousy.

I never do this...but just once let's analyze just how badly 20 years of military service in the US Army punished me.

22 years ago when I retired from active duty, I started and still own a very profitable construction company. I also own 2 apartment complexes both paid for.
I own 2 homes, both built this year and both paid for.
A drive a 2004 F-350 4x4...paid for.

I bought a new boat this summer and I am picking up a new Airstream tomorrow morning.

I receive an O-4 military pension AND (poor old me) I get a VA disability check for old war wounds. Soon I will be triple dipping with a Social Security check too.

More importantly I have a fabulous spouse, three adult children who have top-notch lives going and five grandkids doing very well in school and sports.

You seem to think I'm deprived because I never inherited a dime and depraved because I am pro-military.

I cannot discuss that with you because your reasoning is beyond my comprehension. You are probably a little too smart for me. As you know and pointed out, I am no Einstein.

I can tell you this...
If you are lucky...very lucky! When you grow up you might share a small piece of the America I know and love. Then you may begin to understand that life's treasures (including freedom) should be preserved not squandered.

In the meantime, I suggest counseling...and lots of it.
Poor Old Unclewest

PS. Maybe I should spread some of my misfortune around. I just bought a new digital camera, can I e-mail you some pictures of my beautiful wife, the grandkids and my toys? Then you can experience envy and jealousy too.

If a young Einstein is drafted at age 18, whoever gets him will make out like a bandit, while the person who is stuck with a young gangbanger or someone with a 75 IQ will have a real burden. Drafting everybody won't make them all the same, there will still be stars, gems and pearls, and there will still be dross.

Ever hear that phrase, "Be all that YOU can be."?

Most of the time(in boot camp, or officer training, or a military academy) the person who is 'stuck' with the gangbanger who can't tie his shoes, is also stuck with the young Einstein who can't do a single pull-up. Nonetheless, the guy who is 'stuck' with that sorry lot teaches them what it means to be leaders, what it takes to work as a team and what it means to be responsible. Sometimes it's been known to happen in a few short weeks. ;-)

Of course, there's no harm in letting the rich kids drive around in mom and dad's mercedes smoking reefer, and learning how to do the gang symbols from their supplier as long as we don't let our beloved violinists and math freaks near them.

Are there jobs left undone?

Been through an airport lately?
Sent in any immigration papers lately?
How about that holiday traffic in your neighborhood?
Oh, and fires? Heard of any good fires lately?

You hate people you think have it better than you.

Was that directed at unclewest, or just people in the military in general?
