If "Homeland Security" is a myth, then why are the states and local governments asking to beef up

They want the "Windfall" money. It's like "Job Training," the Federal boondoggle that gives money to the States that is used to "comp" various pressure groups. The Police and Fire Departments use the bucks for extras they want and say it was used for "Terrorist Security." Then they trot out horror stories to the public to justify even more money. They are the country's biggest experts at this "rain dance."

The Coast Guard has had huge increases. The new Ship that are being built are a direct result of 911.

The type of "Humant" Intel work it takes to get Al Qaeda is not very expensive and not flashy at all. So people think nothing is being done. I hope it is. It is the type of thing that we really have no way to evaluate until it is too late.

With due respect, MB... Re: "Heck the local fire stations in DC are missing bare neccassities like Aspirin and critical gear to fight a fire, let alone fighting a calamity."

Is there an article about this? Are your firestations paid by the District...or by State? or by the US Government....

Maybe some of us could help out by calling some of these stations, if we knew which ones didn't have the necessities you mentioned...
