s2- i haven't read much of reeves, but if this is typical, he is an excellent columnist. a patriarchal society is not hard to relate to or understand. just look to washington d.c. today. yes, there are women in leadership positions but they are oppressed and suppressed unless they buy in to and support the "strict father" mindset (which is to say... "the patriarchal model"). there are hundreds of different cultures existing among the peoples on this planet. i support the idea of sovereignty and self rule -- i think the diversity is very important to humanity. but i WOULD like to see open borders and an international government to legislate international affairs... and a joint police force to enforce international law and apprehend violators (like terrorists and the leaders of war mongering nations like the iraq that unilaterally invaded kuwait and the country(s) that unilaterally invaded iraq)... and a world court to adjudicate. in order for that to happen, the most powerful (i.e., the united states of america) would have to be benevolent enough to sacrifice some short term self-interest in favor of the benefit of the world. in the long run, i believe this would benefit the U.S. more than any short term self-interest policies. i truly believe that what is best for all of humanity is best for my country. a LOT of U.S. citizens are opposed to this idea, and a LOT of them are in agreement with it... and that is perfect... today. JMHO -elpolvo
