Yes, it will be a hard choice, if it has to be made. It might be compatible, even though we in the West have simply never tried to look for a way to make "progress" and natural time compatible; since we have never looked for a solution, we've never found one- but there may be one. I don't know. But there are always new ideas to be found in the world.

You might want to check out the origins of time measurement and its development. The need to measure time and live life in an orderly fashion was originally driven by Arabs in response to the Quranic message. The guy who wrote that article is a dope.
