Thanks Baton.

Just listening to an industry analyst re: beef.
The price in the US for beef will drop (in order to get the domestic herd eaten up since they can't export it and they lose money to just continue to feed em for another year) hence it will push Canadian prices down also since our predominant market for beef is to the US and we'd have to compete with your new low price. The beef industry in Canada is larger than the US relative to the respective size of our economies, so your problem will impact us somewhat harder it is expected.

It was observed in Canada during our "cow" episode that the retail price at the grocer didn't drop much at all. The producer (rancher) seemed to take the entire hit. It will be interesting to see if you people see the same thing. If so, that would suggest you won't see the price drop at the counter that might have been expected.

For you resourceful ones, the real opportunity will be to purchase a cow on the hoof and butcher it yourself. :o)

I sure hope all they find is that one cow but chances are.......

Cheers and Merry Christmas to this thread.

One would think the idiot trust at XTRN could come up with an instant, field usable test.
The cow that tested positive for mad cow was slaughtered 2 weeks ago...
