Seven cents worth of wheat (or maybe 10 cents now that prices have stiffened) turns somehow into a $2.89 loaf of bread

I'm glad you brought that up. Having been reading for the last several years about low inflation in the States. You might imagine my shock when I hit the grocery store after we moved back. Restocking cupboards, and refrigerator stocks, I felt like taking out a loan.

Then there was housing prices and the price of gas [the later has come down significantly since.] I was having real trouble reconciling the low inflation articles that I read.

I expect that the cattle farmers will take the biggest hit in prices and the consumer won't see the full benefit of it. Only if the consumer reacts by reducing the demand side will there be a significant price reduction.
