Well, you are in a very unusual situation. Most of us have neither the time nor the property to raise our own food. We have 2 1/2 acres that we intend to retire to and when we do I will hopefully have a nice vegetable garden but thats the best I can hope for. As I live near the coast we can fish. When I was young there were Lobster in abounds but they are all gone now, at least in the shallows. JDN

Although I don't live there, I have a little over 23 acres of rural property about a half a mile from a large Texas lake. It's really pretty and I don't grow any food, but it is plenty to keep me busy in my spare time. Hopefully, I can retire there someday. People don't realize how easy it is to buy rural property.
