<I would have rather had it out with Hitler when he remilitarized the Rhineland in '36, rather than waiting for "need".........>

What an absurd comparison.

So it was generally believed...in 1936. Most threats look absurd before the fact, because no one wants to believe bad news before they must.

Actually, is a very good analogy. Hitler was, at that point, looked upon as containable; his stated goals were largely viewed as hot air; and it did not seem worth the trouble to punish him for a significant violation of the Versailles Treaty. His hostility towards Jews was viewed as rabble rousing, and though it caused unpleasantness, no one thought that European Jewry was in existential danger except the Zionists. A few people, like Winston Churchill, warned of the danger that an unchecked Hitler constituted, but were viewed as warmongers. Yes, a very good analogy, indeed.......

What an absurd comparison.

One thing this world can "take to the bank" is that when you show an inability to refute the implicit logic in a comparison, you'll find it absurd.

And something else that is absurd is that you have the gall to denigrate other people's substantiated opinions, without offering a defense of your own position.

But what is really absurd is the intellectual cowardice you display and the fact that so many people tolerate it.
