To: 2MAR$ who wrote (45384 ) 12/25/2003 9:05:27 AM From: IQBAL LATIF Respond to This is highly speculative report but I appreciate that such freedom of press exists in my country, I also feel that sometime bigger strategic mistakes result into smaller nations gaining bigger roles, I have always said that a nuclear Pakistan is a result of 'pokhran’ misadventure', it was the bigger nation that introduced damn nuclear equation and changed its great conventional supremacy into as nuclear parity, a decision that India will always regret and than in a blatant move on 11th may 1999 started second series of tests to bring Pakis basement bombs out of the shadows, this thread is a history of those events please visit those dates my views and my outlook have not changed but time has proved that Indian decision to go Nuclear went against its overall strategic posture it became a nuclear equal not a conventional superior to Pakis. That was the prime reason of major withdrawal from Kashmir by 500,000 soldiers, some one ducked it was not Pakis and it was unfortunately India the decision that made India nuclear made it insecure too.
