Nadine,
Double attempt on the life of Musharif this week and he responds by giving up control of the army in 04 to placate islamicist muslim parties. Any thoughts on these events. Out of control Pakistan with nukes is a worrysome thought. mike

Last year, Saddam had no enemies among the Arabs; now he has no friends, and never had any.

Yeah, and next week or next year it will be something else. When people switch from saying what we don't want to hear to what we want to hear, we tend to believe that they have come around to a new, reformed view. Suddenly the wrong-headed have gotten smart and will stay smart. The "and never had any" is a dead give-away.

The same goes for ebbs and flows. We always think flows will last forever. One good week what with Saddam and Libya and we're home free, to hear some people tell it. It's human nature. And it's a trap.
