Hi Glenn,

The NY Times "reporters" seem to be acting as press agents for the White House in this latest piece of fluff.

What I really would have loved to have seen them address was the wretched way that the Bushies have been using fear-mongering as a sales tool. And how is it that this de-polarizing white wash from Nagourney completely fails to mention the elephant sitting on the sofa? Not one mention of Karl Rove, chief strategist and chief polarizer of the dirty tricks department at the White House.

Now I realize that Nagourney is attempting to be "balanced". <snicker> I'm wondering if that is why he fails to mention what is common knowledge here on SI, that Tom Ridge's raising of the Homeland Security threat level to "High" is a perfect confirmation that Howard Dean was right in suggesting that the capture of Saddam Hussein does not make us any safer. Why doesn't Nagourney deign to mention this irony? My guess is because he's looking for an honorable mention in the new Media Whores Online survey of sell-outs and other sleazy sorts.
