Some say that as many as 700,000 cows are butchered in that manner? TO sick to move themselves.. THat whole practice should be stopped IMO.

The slaughter house in Moses Lake denies the cow was non ambulatory.

Too sick to stand so they had to move it with a loader. Is that the kind of meat you want to eat?

Only due to this crisis with the cow in Washington state have I come to learn that about 130,000 downer cows enter the human food chain each year. It seem remarkably cavalier of the U.S. industry to take such a risk in view of the abundance of evidence world-wide linking downer cows to BSE.
