Statisticians tell us they have quite likely been several....

(One small point many people are not aware of: deer and elk herds from Colorado to Minn, have often been infected with prionic disease in recent years... and from these 'wild' herds the disease can be spread across a fence to domestic cattle. It is believed that captive deer in an agricultural study at the University of Colorado originally caught prionic disease some years back... and then escaped, or somehow spread the disease into the wild populations.)
