I realize what the odds are, but wouldn't you throw it out too if you knew it had been recalled by the grocery chain where you bought it? I used the hamburger with the Dec. 25th date in question and I live in Washington state.

re mad cow : A few years ago, I lived in England for 6 months towards the tail end of their mad cow problems. Beef was available in the stores and in restaurants - cheapest meat you could buy. I made the most of it, and am still alive.

The only downside is I can no longer donate blood, because I lived in England at that time. I use the approved work-around and donate plasma instead.
