Meanwhile, this is what someone (not me, but could be) thinks about 2004: >>>TOP 10 PREDICTIONS FOR 2004: 1) Pakistani "president" Pervez Musharraf will be assassinated and replaced by hard-line Islamic generals in the subsequent power vacuum. 2) The Taliban will expand their guerilla resistance in Afghanistan culminating with the assassination of Hamid Karzai. 3) Wesley Clark will receive the Democratic nomination after a long and destructive two-way race against Howard Dean. Likely running mate remains Hillary Clinton (who knows she would lose to Guliani in a Senate race) 4) A massive, multiple-city WMD terror attack will hit America, perhaps including targets in the UK or Israel. Immediately, President Bush will declare "temporary security measures," expand all police and surveillance powers (National ID card, cameras across cities, random searches on streets). The bill of rights and habeus corpus will be eliminated except for lip-service ("of course you are still free, as long as you are not a terrorist!") The people will love Bush for protecting them. 5) The elites will use all forms of media to launch a massive propaganda campaign of belligerent nationalism. This will be used to unify the freightened masses behind the government (a'la 9-11, but on a far greater scale) Messages will be along the lines of "We cannot allow another attack to happen." "This is now America's war for survival and we must unite as freedom-loving Americans and beat these murderers;" "law obiding citizens have nothing to fear;" In that spirit of freedom, thousands of Muslims, along with some "political extremists" will be detained immediately after the attacks. 6) The American economy enter a deep depression post-attack although a total crash in the stock market will be avoided. Once the major financial institutions decide we have "bottomed out" they will rush to profiteer on the police state (military, oil, technology stocks). Most corporate insiders have already sold their shares pre-attack (insider selling at 10-year high) so the elites won't be affected. Of course, the depression would have happened anyway, via our loss of manufacturing/service jobs, weak dollar, budget deficits, trade deficits, worthless treasury bonds, and derivative-inflated stocks (which is likely why insiders are selling, not because they know of an attack). The WMD attacks will allow Bush to blame terrorists for our economic decline and avoid all responsiblity for his destructive policies. 7) America will begin a new war against Syria after linking them to the terror attack. Included in this war will be a covert proxy war to overthrow the Iranian regime. 8) In such a hysterical environment, the incumbant party would retain power even in a clean election. Still, electronic voting machines will throw all important 2004 elections to Republicans, including House, Senate, Presidency and Governorships. 9) After his reelection President Bush will reinstitute the draft, with mandatory two-years of service (civil or military) for all men under 25. 10) Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez will either be eliminated in a coup or killed via the orders of transnational oil corporations. <<< whatreallyhappened.com PS.
