Searle I haven't been watching the price of feeder cattle, but I have heard that the US producers have benefited immensely from the Canadian beef ban. The industry in Canada and the US were formerly "integrated". Beef prices in Canada dropped, while they rose in the US. Ranchers were getting ridiculously low prices at one time. Last summer, in addition to the export ban, there was a drought on the prairies, and feed for the herds was hard to get. They were bringing in Hay from thousands of miles away, including the US to help alleviate the situation. Needless to say, there was a big sell off at some very low prices. Too bad these savings were not passed on to the consumer level.
