Actually Lizzie, just the opposite appears to be true. Christmas stocks are provided for about 6 mos. ahead of time and indications are most retailers UNDERSTOCKED. I ordered many gifts from Lands End and placed my order about 12/15. Even then they were out of stock on popular items and had to backorder me. This is just ONE example. jdn

I think the WH economic team will tell Carl whatever he wants to hear. Snow was a supposed deficit hawk previously, but now seems to feel that deficits are fine. Greenspan seems to go along with whatever the administration is doing, Clinton or Bush. Dubyah is clueless - HE'S never had money problems. He's never felt ANY pain there. They've manipulated the numbers to such an extent, it's doubtful they KNOW the truth. The best salesman BELIEVES his lies.
