You know this a perfect example of why free trade is fruitless endeavour right now (I can't believe I've come to this conclusion BTW). Until we can decide we really have common interests and a true partnership in trade this crap whether it's lumber, cows, wheat or steel etc is gonna get in the way. Unfortunately it looks more and more like the only way to form the partnership fully would be to become the 51st state and that's not for me. They (US) are just too big for us to have any real clout. Counting on someone's good intentions doesn't cut it and I'm not saying we would be any better were the shoe on the other foot.
