My argument with AFL-CIO is relative to their support of general amnesty for current flood of illegals.

I'm shocked they support that! Whoa what is their grounds or reasoning?

Well, beyond that, like you I am much more sympathetic to unions than ever before. I remember seeing the steel union guy on capitol report after the tariffs were lifted. I don't know whether those tariffs were good or not, don't know much about steel. But the union guy was really upset, shaking and obviously very concerned for the members. My heart went out to him that day.

The Bush administration is attempting to overhaul the immigration laws to allow "anyone with a job" to come to US and begin the immigration process. This, imho is a clear reaction to corporate lobbying to increase foreign work visas to import low wage workers from third world countries and drive worker pay and benefits down. There is no reason for this now, with so many americans out of work. Intel is a main backer of this Bush plan, they want to bring people here from India and try to train them so their India facility will work better than it does now.

I will watch how democrats vote on this immigration flimflam plan and anybody who doesn't vehemently oppose it gets a no vote from me.

They said the plan would include a new program of temporary work visas, as well as an effort to grant legal status to some of the immigrants already in the United States. Most government and private studies estimate that at least 8 million immigrants live in the country illegally, more than half of whom are Mexican.
