JEB, The main problem with Monty, was that he insisted on the Brits taking on some campaigns that they were not prepared to do. His troops did a great job in North Africa against the might, and brilliance, of Rommel, and that seemed to make him a little more egotistic. I guess some of that comes from being in the position to lead thousands of loyal troops into battle, and get the accolades.

It appears that Patton was born, and lived, for only one reason--to wage war, and he didn't want anyone to interfere with his plans, or actions. History may have been, drastically, change if he had lived, and entered into politics, but as great a general as he was, him as President could have been a, bloody, disaster.
