Interesting LB...Are there any comparison stats available yet? i.e. how many inmates stay out of prison (public and private) and how many return (to each type)....

I have always thought that most of us are conflicted as to what we intend when we send someone to prison....are we punishing them or do we want to rehabilitate them?

Or are there/should there be two tiers of prison? One tier for people who can be rehabilitated, and one tier for those who are sentenced to life imprisonment. IMO, the latter "type prisoner" should be clean, fed, and have a bed, with basic sanitation requirements met. They should have access to books and counseling, exercise and work within the prison. Period. No TV, movies, or other "plus's" until the privilege is earned.
