If they play this right, they can get everybody to throw out their soap and candles and buy new stuff.

That may be a stretch, but we do have one SIer who was so spooked about a lasagna she made with ground beef from the packing plant that processed the downer cow that she tossed her dinner. The odds that she saved her family from prion poisoning? I'd think somewhere between incalculable and infinitesimal.
