I have no opinion about their desire for a MacDonald's or WalMart. I merely assume that they want to attain a normal life and the fulfillment of normal aspirations. If this entails modernization, that is, the use of credit cards and orderly systems of accounting, then, yes, at the end of the day, I think that the Iraqis will be happy to carry credit cards and such. I am doubtful that the situation in most places has not improved, when even Time recently had an issue detailing otherwise. I would be interested in the sources of your assertions on that score.......

This must be the wishful thinking thread. The US also exports it's own state sponsored terrorism and has since WWII and the creation of the CIA. Why do you think these people hate us! We put in power the dictators who have been cutting off their hands and feet and killing them! They certainly never have accused the US of minding it's own business.

The US has all kinds of "schools" where they train foreign "police" agencies in the "art" of "security". I'm sure we trained the Iraqi's over the time we were friendly with Saddam Insane.
