Thanks for the suggestions. I do not need to save anything on this drive. Still, I have tried what you have suggested, with the correct utility from the manufacturer. The Max Blast 2 utility does not even see the drive. And the drive is working perfectly.

Inside XP Pro, the drive manager will not allow a format. Right clicking in File Explorer produced the same negative result.

I'm at a loss. I think either the virus is still present, or the OS on the hard drive won't allow the format.

Stumped!
