Dean, a doctor by profession, meeting privately with some energy magnates as Governor. Cheney, a person connected to oil, a VP and meeting privately with oil folks. Which one would people view more suspiciously. Secondly, there is always a possibility that after Dean gets the party nomination, he could release all the info that his Democratic opponents want him to release now. When he does so as a Presidential candidate, then he puts Bush on the spot. I bet , if he releases the info, the nation will find him more towards the center than he has portrayed himself to be so far. I guess we have to wait and see and speculate until then as I have done.
