Christianity is more about rebellion, tax evasion and unconditional love than the things you imagine it represents. The bones you are picking at have more to do with the Roman reinvention of Christianity that came much later including the idea of original sin.

Since the whole human charade is doomed to failure we're better off preserving our illusions and if anyone gets too big for their dungarees lock and load.

"There's no way to rule innocent men. The only power any government has is the power to crack down on criminals. Well, when there aren't enough criminals one makes them. One declares so many things to be a crime that it becomes impossible for men to live without breaking laws. Who wants a nation of law-abiding citizens? What's there in that for anyone? But just pass the kind of laws that can neither be observed nor enforced or objectively interpreted – and you create a nation of law-breakers – and then you cash in on guilt. Now that's the system, Mr. Reardon, that's the game, and once you understand it, you'll be much easier to deal with."

None of your rambling discursion has anything to do with the issue.

"So comparing atheism and theism to Absolutist creeds and dogmas such as Communism, Islam, or Christianity is naive, dishonest, or both."

Christianity is all things to all men (as Paul intended it).

You may worship an unlimited One God of creation, an anthropomorphised human god, the idol statues on an alter in your living room, an undefined spirit force, or some combination of such. You may live by strict moral priniple or leave it open to anything goes as long as you know ahead of time that you are redeemed (forgiven apriori) for anything and everything.

So, a Christian can, with validity, claim to represent any position that serves them without violating their 'religious' doctrine. I am happy to let the Christians who are in conflict, argue over who is right and who is wrong.

Likewise with the other (possibly corrupted) dogmas you mention. However, the fact that a good system can be corrupted for evil endeavor, does not condemn me for having faith and living a moral life that is based on religious teaching.
