No I don't recognize any strategic advantage in going after Saddam with Osama on the loose. Saddam belongs to thuggery, whereas Osama personifies terror. Saddam kills if you do not bow down to him. Osama kills if you do not subscribe to his dogma and ideology.

Bush failed to see it this way and hence has a long year ahead of him with the rejuvenated Al Qaeda terrorist network. he failed to finish the job when he was in a position to do so with Al Qaeda on the run in Tora Bora mountains etc.
