That's too obvious, terrorists will never think of exploiting the weak link. Nice we can get on board and wonder if a) our pilot is a terrorist; or b) our armed marshal is a terrorist. There aren't that many terrorists in relation to the population as a whole. They should just issue everybody a gun, because I'm confident the peaceful passengers could win any shootout with terrorists.

Tom, <<if a hostile pilot can fly the plane, can a hostile marshall ride?>>

... the bad idea of having armed local national air marshalls on board planes seems just a marinated bit of cooking ingredient, at best, like a piece of crazy cow ribeye.

The whole idea will get the kabosh after the first incident where a terrorist is piloting the plane, protected by an armed terrorist air marshall.

Next up, American national air marshalls on board foreign flights, at a cost of USD 90k per annum, followed by much law suits due to job-related diseases and such.

After that, lower cost Chinese Kung Fu masters without weapons, taking away American jobs, at a cost of RMB 12k per year.
