07:12 IDT IDT highlighted positively in Barron's (20.39 )

Barron's highlights IDT Corp, a telecom that dominates the pre-paid phone-card market for immigrants (primarily Northeast Hispanic community). The co is trying to prove it can succeed in a host of other ventures, including animated movies, wireless communications and VoIP phone calls. IDT has also expanded to Europe, California and the Southwest with a market value at $1.6 bln with more than $1 bln in cash and equivalents and no debt. Peter Eisele, an analyst with Snyder Capital states, "I don't see a lot of downside." However, despite the co's cash position and successful phone-card business, the stock does not trade higher because IDT is still losing money with almost no coverage from Wall Street analysts. IDT Chairman Howard Jonas says all money-losing operations could be profit able by July, the end of IDT's FY. CEO Jim Courter says the core telecom operations could produce $100 mln in free cash flow in 2004. If Jones and Courter are right, the shares of IDT could rise to 30 within a year.
