New Year Closure Of Las Vegas Airspace Sought -NBC

NEW YORK -(Dow Jones)- Officials in Nevada have asked the Federal Aviation Administration to order the closure of the airspace over the Las Vegas hotel and casino strip to private planes over the New Year's holiday, to thwart any possible terrorist attack using planes, NBC News reported Monday.

The report said the request came amid concerns that Las Vegas, which has one of the highest concentrations of hotel rooms in the U.S., could become a potential target of terrorists.

Fears of another attack in the U.S. during the holiday period were corroborated by intelligence analysis of intercepted conversations involving suspected operatives of al-Qaida, NBC reported.
