"Nobody seems to have proof for or against such a belief so why should I not claim it as equal to the "God" belief (which is, of course, contradicted by several hundred thousand other "God" beliefs).

Of course we can make up contradictory God beliefs.

God is unlimited and beyond temporal descriptor, is contradictory to god being a man, which is contradictory to god being a stone or wooden idol, which is contradictory to god being a spirit that inhabits or swirls around from place to place impregnating virgins.

What is it that you require as proof? Every kind of evidence that is temporally available for that which is beyond temporality has been provided. Whatever it is, you shall have it. If you will only be satisfied on being delivered to eternal judgement on your death, then it will be done.

"Whether God exists is akin to the possibility of whether there are refrigerators in my toes."

So why should I not claim it as equal to the "God" belief."

There is a major difference. It is a difference between serving the highest good, with faith and hope vs thinking oneself in mortal form to be equal to the highest good; and it is consequencial.
