Lots of "pink sheets" listings exist for Canadian stocks and they can be traded online. It's not completely staisfactory, since it is hard to get quotes and since one loses money both on the exchange rate and on the bid-ask spread. But if you are careful and lucky you can trade most Canadian stocks online in the United States at a premium (or discount, if selling) of 1% or so to the going price on the Canadian exchanges.
