So what would they take over CKG for? Money in the treasury? It cannot be the resources, as they do not have any, nor have they done enough exploration to rule out any probable existing resource

CBD no way, as the resource is not that profitable. It is not hungry but not that wildly magnificent.

If you look at the pattern, most majors are not buying difficult, but potentially large resources. They are divesting some resources at the bottom of their inventory in order to concentrate.

While we are on the subject of concentrating, one has to wonder about Domes move into SA a few years back. They never were that astute politically.

I agree on CBD, but why CKG. They have nothing but money and prospects. I think I am right in saying that a takeover candidate would need some proven resource.

Takeover candidates which I own in order takeoverabilty <G>

Agnico Eagle - Clearly undervalued relative to peers with superb land package. Unhedged. Management has had some bad luck

Arizona Star - Large undeveloped ore deposit

Nevsun - What looks to be a large high grade growing deposit

Kinross - Perhaps a target for a major as it is as far as I know mostly unhedged?

Placer Dome - Not as much now since the share price has caught up with peers. It would be the gobbler of a couple on my list but since it has controlling interest in some of these large projects you never know.

Novagold - I'm not as sure since I do not know the economics of their project but this has one of the largest undeveloped deposits in the world.

I'd love to see other peoples lists and reasons.

Many other companies I follow are now protected from takeover by high shareprices and/or subeconomic or marginal mines.
