"How unfortunate for Joan that Solon was not there to expose her psyche and show her that God does not exist"

How unfortunate I was not there to protect her from the Inquisition doing "God's Work".

Her schizophrenia today would be treated. She would be cared for as having an illness--not an EVIL.

Mental illness (like physical illness) is something experienced by people. Like physical illness--much of it has hereditary components. Treating it as EVIL or POSSESSION by DEMONS is absurd and pathetic. Yet even today people look at schizophrenics as either doing God's work or Satan's work. How sad...

The entire book of Ezekiel is a record of profound schizophrenia. God tells him to sleep so many days on his right side, so many days on his left side; to eat barley cakes mixed with dung...and on and on and on. All very sad to some of us...but quite impressive to others.

Heck, why limit Solon to Joan?

He could have been there at the time of Jesus and cured him of all this meglomania about being divine and all that stuff. He could have converted all the disciples and apostles to atheism and prevented all future religious wars. Heck, while he was at it he could have shown the Hebrews the fallacy of their belief in this God of Abraham and freed them from all their supersticious adherence to nonsensical traditions such as eating kosher food.

And think of all that stupid religious art we would no longer have to look at, those cathedrals and temples which are merely a waste of stone and labor (send him a bit further back and he could have prevented the pyramids from being built by converting the Egyptians to the true non-faith).

"How unfortunate for Joan that Solon was not there to expose her psyche and show her that God does not exist"

That is the very thing I would never consider doing.

"He could have found her solace in a gay marriage"

I believe in letting people choose their own values. Joan preferred to be a virgin. It would be none of my business or concern to interfere in any way, whatsoever.

"and brought her somedrugs to inhibit the reuptake of serotonin into her brain"

I don't believe she suffered from depression, but in any event it would be none of my concern.

"If Joan begged for confession and communion Solon could instead direct her to his favourite crutch the infidels website."

No. I would direct her to a church where such things are to be had.

"And of course if this messenger of God insisted on being stupid and insulting with her piety and faith he could remedy that with a good cuff."

I don't believe children should be beaten for any reason--least of all for devotion and piety.

I hope your little tirade and attempt to falsify character calmed your little demons down. Not good to keep those things pent up! :-)
