I would pay about 5 cents/gallon for the convenience. But I dont have to - I get full service at same price as self service.

See, the gas tank is about 20 gallons. 5 cents more costs $1 per tankfull (which gives me about 400 miles). Over 400 miles of driving, I am bound to waste at least $1. So why fuss around, especially in the freezing winter ?

Besides in winter there is the risk of static electricity when you pump, which is typically eliminated when the attendant pumps :
