Makes it difficult, because it is true that racists use that as a way to respond also. Yes, this is a problem that ties in with that question I asked you about how we know if Dean was stating the obvious or making a threat. How do you tell the racists from the federalists? This is why I often challenge people who just assume the worst, consistent with their biases or fears or expectations, even when there's no real evidence of it. Seems to be we can at least judge things to be arguable, if not give folks the benefit of the doubt, when there is at least one constructive alternative explanation.
