I think the WH should have asked for a special prosecutor from the start, let the chips fall where they may, though I think ultimately it was Wilson and Plame who will feel the heat since he is a self-aggrandizing egotist and her cover is of the Swiss cheese variety. His Saudi connections are the source of a potential conflict of interest for her that will spell trouble for the Happy Couple. Plus, it seems anomalous that the investigation apparently has not started from square-one, i.e., attempting to determine whether she is even covered by the statute due to her possible failure to meet the 5-year foreign service requirement.

One US citizen could clear the whole thing up in 30 seconds and save taxpayers millions. Ask a judge to throw Saffire in jail till he talks. This is about NATIONAL SECURITY isn't it?
