Granted. It was really rank and smelly stuff. I'm amazed it got so far along that Joe Wilson was recommended to Cheney's office to travel to Niger to confirm the allegation.

But it was good enough for Bush to convince congress of the "imminent threat" and get approval for war, late 2002, way before the State of Union Address. Otherwise there would have been no Iraq Invasion.
