Despite tremendous run-up that Lam enjoyed in 2003, LRCX will be the one to own in 2004. For LRCX, 2003 was the story of capturing market share in oxide etch (in dual damascene and critical), 2004 will be the story of earning leverage the company is about to show in this upturn.
In the last pick, LRCX peaked at 500 million per quarter.
Now it looks like the company is able to attain same earning based on 350 million peak revenue. I believe LRCX can achive EPS exceeding $2 based on 1.4 billion annual sales and we may see shares trading as high as $60 during next upturn.. Good luck to LRCX shareholders..

FWIW, S&P likes LRCX:

Q: What's your take on the semiconductor-equipment sector? How much further can they run, given the new cycle is just beginning?
A: We're fairly optimistic on both the semiconductor and the semiconductor-equipment industries. Our favorite semiconductor-equipment company is Teradyne (TER ), which is ranked 5 STARS. The shares of Applied Materials (AMAT ) carry a 4-STARS ranking.

In the semiconductor group, we have a few more favorites, and they include Analog Devices (ADI ), Cree (CREE ), Intel (INTC ), and Lam Research (LRCX ), which is a semiconductor-equipment stock that I missed. Three more semiconductor stocks that carry 5-STARS recommendations include Microchip Technology (MCHP ), Texas Instruments (TXN ), and Vishay Intertechnology (VSH ).
