Post-Emptive Proof

I strongly agree with the Mother Jones article. I believe Khaddafi's motivation was quite selfish, and had little to do with Iraq. Without foreign help, Libya just doesn't work. For some time Khaddafi has been trying to rejoin "the club". Despite all of the RW blather about Iraq causing some "change of heart", I believe without Iraq this would have occurred just the same. Otherwise, Libya sinks back into the Middle Ages. Khaddafi really had no choice, but to "clear up" the Lockerbie and WMD problems. I notice that he now seems to be well on his way to getting client status - a la Mubarak. Hardly a great step forward toward democracy, but O'Reilly et al won't mention that.
