The battle for Satellite Radio will not be with OEMs since both companies have strong partners and we can assume that consumer's who buy a GM or Ford/DaimlerChrylser have fairly homogenuous tastes.

You're kidding, right? It is ALL about OEMs right now. GM and Honda are laying it on thick while Chrysler and Ford have done near zero. This is a key difference between the two services -- XM has this expensive, but essential, deal with GM. It is quite likely Toyota is going to be onboard with XM shortly.

Now, XM has something with its "XM Direct" product -- which effectively will allow a BMW, Ford, or Chrysler owner with a Sirius-ready radio to have the equivalent of a factory install. This is going to cannibalize SIRI's business in a big way.

Make no mistake. OEM commitment is THE key to this business. XM has it and SIRI doesn't, yet.
