"Nowadays we treat people who suffer from hallucinations."

How would you treat a yoga master who has reached a state of nirvana?

"They can seek relief from you, or they can seek it from some "lunatic" with a life-time of studying and treating such disorders."

If your expert has a lifetime of experience it would mean he is dead. Did you animate him with incantation or medication?

"But I think it is very dangerous to revive a belief in voices as being from actual Gods or demons."

You are fixating on the voices to change the subject. What really bothers you about this historical figure is voices or no voices she was inspired to effect real change. People don't like Joan d'Arc because she was not planned and could not be controlled. Was the greed that put Joan to death more legitimate and less worthy of treatment than the voices she claimed to have heard? Would you pin a medal on the one and crucify with medications the other?
