One man's theology is another man's belly laugh.

The most preposterous notion that H. sapiens has ever dreamed up is that the Lord God of Creation, Shaper and Ruler of all the Universes, wants the saccharine adoration of His creatures, can be swayed by their prayers, and becomes petulant if He does not receive this flattery. Yet this absurd fantasy, without a shred of evidence to bolster it, pays all the expenses of the oldest, largest, and least productive industry in all history.

God is omnipotent, omniscient, and omni benevolent--it says so right here on the label. If you have a mind capable of believing all three of these divine attributes simultaneously, I have a wonderful bargain for you. No checks, please. Cash and in small bills.

- "The Notebooks of Lazarus Long"

You START with an assumption? That you have a "soul"?

What are the facts? Again and again and again--what are the facts? Shun wishful thinking, ignore divine revelation, forget what "the stars foretell," avoid opinion, care not what the neighbors think, never mind the unguessable "verdict of history"--what are the facts, and to how many decimal places? You pilot always into an unknown future; facts are your single clue. Get the facts!

Good luck. You're gonna need it.

"everyone has a soul"

Everyone has the seven worms of Ancient Atlantis breeding invisibly within their bone marrow. Our "proofs" are equivalent and equally silly.

"Can we see it? No. Can we touch it? No. Is it something physical science can deal with directly? No"

Then what evidence do you have? You go on to mention "self evidence", but that is useless to me when talking about YOUR Purported soul, right? Your "self" is clearly not me.

But how about you? Can the soul "self-evidence" itself to YOU? How? What other senses do you have to verify an encounter with something you did not feel, touch, taste, hear, smell, or see? You may say you thought about it; but thought does not prove the actual existence of anything, does it?

If the soul is supernatural and immaterial, then what did you experience it with? Describe something you experienced that was immaterial and beyond sensual experience. That would surely be a fun encounter to listen to!

"Yes. I am convinced that my soul continues to exist before and after I occupy this body"

WHY? Why should you experience a "soul" and not me? You believe you are attached to some separate entity which is NOT you...but which in some sense belongs to you! This entity is supposedly beyond experience and yet you testify to it! HMMMM!!
