Add to the left wing comment, the comments about the confederate flag decal pick-up driving southern vote, and the conspiracy theory regarding Bush and pre-knowledge of 9-11. He never should have mentioned the confederate flag. And he should have never given creedence to a conspiracy theory regarding Bush. You let the conspiracists handle that, but you don't add to nor undermine that undercurrent as a presidential candidate. That said, there is plenty of grist for the mill regarding Bush, 9-11, what he knew, and what he did. The silence he's brought to bear over the whole event hasn't helped him either. When you have a book out about the Israeli spies that were tracking Al Qaeda operatives in the US. The fact that Israeli intelligence notified Bush of a terror attack. The fact that the PNAC had even written about a new "Pearl Harbor" was needed to galvanize support of an attack on Iraq, and this way before 9-11. The 28 blacked out pages. But Dean should have stayed away from all of this. Let the bloggers and investigative journalists work on it. Stay tuned, cause I don't think we have heard the last of this. As far as healthcare goes, this is an issue that can gather a lot of support if properly crafted. There is no doubt that we, as a nation, could save a bundle on healthcare costs. Especially if everyone participates financially in some respect, according to the ability to pay. I'm no fan of big HMO's and Insurance companies bleeding away dollars from patients and insureds, for often little or no service in return. A better way would be to spread that cost over a wider base, and then cap what doctors and hospitals can charge. The AMA has some pretty good lobbyists, and they have made their profession one of the richest in the country. Hand in hand with this concept goes tort reform. Where lawyers would be capped in damages they could receive as well. But that is another topic. Happy New Year! Orca
