Lots of people pay FICA and never get to claim anything. That's the way the system works. You need forty quarters to be eligible. I've paid FICA but I will never collect. As long as the rules are published and followed, I don't see how it can be considered a scam. A lousy approach to retirement, but not a scam.

P.S. Some people tout this as an side benefit of illegals. They contribute to FICA but will never collect, thus paying indirectly for the services they get.

Is FICA a Scam ?

FICA is a "Ponzi racket," Kumar. Keep paying off your old folks with money from your young folk, and hope you don't run out. Do we "take" Foreign workers? Yep.

I consider it to be an encouragement for such workers to become US citizens.

Also foreign immigrants have been scamming the Social Security system for years. They immigrate here and then have their mother, father and grandparents move here and sign them up for Social security benefits.
