Ray, even I can see the loss of freedom experienced by Americans inspite of their long standing enviable constitutional rights. And this process is on-going. Are Americans being gradually "conditioned" for something far more sinister than a "terrorist" threat?

Recently I caught a ferry boat from Victoria B.C. to Port Angeles in Wash. state. At the line up in Victoria, US customs officials were walking around with their guns clearly visible in their holsters. Not a big thing, probably normal, but for us up here in Canada it is something we don't see. Funny how repetitive events quickly become the norm.

This is the danger facing the US and the world. We grow accustomed to the new reality very quickly. I have seen a lot of societal changes in my life time, and most of these in the last 20 years to my dismay. But now Bush has heralded a new phase based on the threat of terrorism.

It is now 2004, and all these threats have again been proven groundless. I have always thought that if I was planning a major terrorist act, I certainly would not do it at a time and place my enemy expects it.

God help America if there ever is another attack. Bush's presidency and legacy will be assured forever. And America and the world will be a different place.

Funny how communism and capitalism seem to look alike in the end.

My greeting was kind of traditional, hoping for better times, while realizing the great dangers facing us all. I sometimes think I can glimpse the New World Order. But I don't know what will trigger it.
