Whereas, if you walk down the street of any Western nation and are threatened, a nearby US soldier would be inclined to step forward and protect you, and the chances of him killing you is nil.
Whereas OBL and Al Queda members are sworn to destroy you and any other non-believer by any means possible, at any time, without warning, regardless of the fact other Muslims or innocent civilians would be killed in the process.
And you try to equate the people involved in these two situations as having equally evil intentions or ethical values????

I say:
All killing is evil.

Nice to know you wouldn't lift a finger to avenge the death of innocent non-combatants, whether they be victims of the WTC attack, or the mass graves of Iraq.

All you have to do is stand back and judge the actions of others with your moralistic BS...

It would be interesting to see how you react when/if your own life, or those you love, are threatened someday..

I'm sure your passivity will make you real popular among your family members... "I just couldn't kill that rapist.. His life was precious"..

Geezus!!

Who is the relativist?

You are, albeit an upside down one. You look at things which are different, and announce them to be the same.

Your last post is in conflict with some of your earlier statements.

For example, your post from November which I quote below doesn't sound like someone who thinks "all killing is evil".
There you portray killings of "foreigners" by "Iraqi patriots" as good and pleasing to you:

It pleases me that steadily, incrementally, one organization at a time, every foreigner in Iraq is figuring out his life is in danger, as long as he is in Iraq. And that the solution is to leave Iraq.
It pleases me that the Iraqi patriots have the courage, weapons, (and are developing the organization and skills) to push the foreigners, all of them, out of their country.
.....
It pleases me, that we are failing in this war of aggression,...

What kind of pacifist cheers the violence of one side in a conflict? Aren't you just masquerading as a pacifist to cover the fact that you're rooting for the other side?

All killing is evil, and yet . . . . what do you call a man who sees a child being hacked to death with a machete, and turns his back and walks away?

Is he not evil, too?

You say:
Our killing is good, their killing is evil.
I say:
All killing is evil.

So what's your point? I say what bin Laden, Hussein, et al, have in mind for us and the rest of the world is degenerate, backward, evil, and not permissable.

If, to stop them, we must kill them and some of their followers, that's OK by me. It's troubling but I can live with it.

self-defined-wearers-of-White-Hats?

Well, you see, I know, by comparison, I'm a better person than bin Laden or Hussein and I'm a better person than most of their followers.

Furthermore, I know, from observation, that George Bush and most other modern people are better folk than bin Laden, Hussein and their followers.

I also know, from observation, that with its lack of tyranny and its prosperity, a modern way of life is far superior to the tyranny and poverty the likes of bin Laden and Hussein have in mind for the world.

I see bin Laden, Hussein and others of their ilk as mortal enemies. In confirmation, I can hear them say so and I see their actions.

The romantic, fascist type ideologies represented by people such as bin Laden and Hussein are not compatible with modern way of life and there is not enough room in the world for both. The events of the twentieth century have demonstrated they lead to killing and misery of unprecedented dimensions.

We have already made the mistake of allowing these ideologies to get new footholds and even to attack us and our allies but I see no reason to continue with this mistake. We can either fight small wars now or very large ones later.
